Rockville,
Maryland - December 19, 2006
As a sequel to its most recent public release of the
new TT™X series of wireless routers/gateways at
2.4/5.8 GHz, Teletronics International Inc. (Teletronics)
today announced the availability of the TT™-900
bridge and router/gateway. Operated at 902-928 MHz,
the TT™900 product is expected to significantly
increase the broadband outdoor range over a near-line-of-sight
(NLOS) environment.
“From satellite to terrestrial microwaves, line-of-sight
requirement has been a fundamental range-limiting factor
all these years. Even for cellular systems, repeaters
and base stations have to be installed every few blocks
of a city with worrisome kilowatt radiation powers in
order to overcome the range hindrance,” explained
by Dr. Dickson Fang, the President/CEO of Teletronics,
“with the incorporation of TT™900, we stay
within the healthy low-power limit of less than one
watt yet achieve a 20 kilometers to 80 kilometer range
for a typical near-line-of-sight-path. This is a tremendous
breakthrough over the traditional (LOS) range of at
most Line of Sight 20 kilometers with high towers.”
Identical to the TT™X at 2.4G and 5.8G, TT™900
is designed with the multi-media gateway in mind. It
is a new class of high-performance NAT firewall routers
with specialized QoS to meet the stringent requirements
for delivering multi-media content. The system can accommodate
the scalability and security of most customers’
network. It provides reliable on-demand access for applications
with high-quality streaming media such as video, gaming,
IPTV, high-definition audio and for other real-time
applications including telco-scale VoIP; all over a
NLOS range.
Referring to the fact that the TT™900 is robust,
constructed with a weather-proof outdoor enclosure,
including surge protection on the radio, PoE (Power
over Ethernet) adaptor, and able to be embedded into
an antenna S.L.A.B. ™ (Smart Long-Range Antenna
Bridge) with a user designated pointing gain, Dr. Fang
quipped, “People may readily use it as a cheap
microwave…where else can you get a 30 kilometer
link with 40 MB throughout under $4000?” And,
he continued, on a serious note, “We really are
presenting it as a low-cost WiMax alternative for the
future.”
Depending on configuration, the TT™900 units are
priced from $600 to $1,500 USD.
